Celebrate great online teaching at UFV — June 8

PURPOSE:
This year has been a study in overcoming challenges. The pivot to online learning is just one of the many challenges faced by UFV faculty who rolled up their sleeves and got to work creating exemplary online activities, resources, and components to support the success of UFV students. This event recognizes and celebrates your adaptability, ingenuity, and dedication to students’ learning.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:
Most of us have been working remotely and in isolation. The goal of this event is to provide an opportunity for faculty to briefly share one or two aspects of their online courses with their colleagues and then to open a portion of their course for further sharing, learning, and celebrating of what worked well this year. By the end of the event, participants will have new knowledge, strategies, and awareness of what their peers have accomplished online over the past three semesters.

CONTEXT:
The faculty and online course components presented here today are only a snapshot of the exemplary work that has been done by UFV faculty. These are course components that have come to our attention, but they are by no means the only great course ideas offered at UFV. This is the first event of its kind, and we hope there will many more opportunities like this to celebrate great online learning at UFV. Future events will allow you to nominate the excellent work that your peers are doing in support of great online learning.

INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN:
Faculty will each share their featured activities, strategies, organizational methods, etc. in a 5-minute ignite-style presentation over Zoom.
