Current State

The Audio-Visual equipment in our eRooms at the Chilliwack Canada Education Park (CEP) campus have become obsolete and incapable of interfacing with modern technology. Most of the general purpose eRooms contain technology from the original installation date when CEP opened for classes in 2012. With no evergreen program or lifecycle management implemented, these eRooms now lag the campus standard for design, functionality, and technology.

Impact to users/Benefits to UFV

The accumulation of technology improvements are anticipated to provide innovation in the areas of student engagement, creating active learners while facilitating peer collaboration and group work.

– The adjustable height/ADA compliant podium provides inclusion and access to classrooms.

– The move to laser projectors (from lamps) results in less classroom downtime for maintenance and speeds up startup time without the lamp warm-up requirement.

– Introducing microphones to deliver better speech audio for improved education delivery.

– Ceiling mounted speakers will allow for improved classroom audio dispersion and collaboration.

– Introducing wireless presentation to allow the instructor to move about the classroom. This will encourage student collaboration as they will be able to screen share on their personal device.
