Support Student Learning with Open Education — March 4

Open education had its beginnings in BC almost 10 years ago when the provincial government funded the creation of open textbooks with BCcampus at the helm. Since then, dozens of grants have been awarded to assist the province’s colleges, institutes and universities work in open education. In this session Lauri Aesoph, BCcampus project manager for UFV’s recently awarded Open Education Foundation grant, will provide background on open education and how it can support student learning.

As the Manager of Operations, Lauri Aesoph designs, implements and manages the operational elements of BCcampus Open Education such as the tracking and public reporting of projects and OER adoptions, overseeing support for open education, and authoring resources such as the Self-Publishing Guide and Post-Secondary Directory. Prior to Lauri’s 17-year career at BCcampus, she spent 15 years as an author and educator of integrative medicine.
