Phyllis Stenson, who was a friend of UFV for more than four decades, passed away on November 22.
Phyllis was the founding executive director of the Harrison Festival of the Arts.
Over the decades the Harrison Festival and UFV in all its incarnations partnered on cultural initiatives, including the Literary Cafe at and Evening of Theatre at the annual summer festival.
Phyllis also served on UFV’s Agassiz-Harrison community council and as chair of the UFV Board from 1999-2002.
She served as a board member of Friends of UFV, a community group that helped lobby for university status for the then-university college in the mid-2000s.
She received an honorary degree from UFV in 2006.
