As you will have seen, last week UFV announced that most courses will be offered remotely in Fall 2020. This has significant implications for the School of Creative Arts, and particularly for areas and classes that rely on experiential and studio-based instruction.
We have all been working extremely hard to determine how to transition most of our courses and programs online, ensuring students will be able to complete program requirements as they’d previously planned and that courses will deliver all learning outcomes in a remote format. We have established an online learning committee of faculty and staff and have a staff member now dedicated to supporting online learning in SoCA.
We have held off on making announcements about what fall will look like until we had fairly concrete details, as we know that constantly changing information can add to people’s stress levels. I am grateful to all of you for your patience. We can now share some information with students and potential students about how the School of Creative Arts plans to meet the challenges brought on by COVID-19 in Fall 2020. Please go to https://www.ufv.ca/creative-arts/covid-19-message/ for details on classes and events in each of our areas.
SoCA students are invited to attend a virtual Q+A from 2:30-4 pm on June 2 to ask any questions they have about the fall semester. Email Jennifer.chew@ufv.ca to RSVP and to receive the link to the meeting. Please direct any questions to the School Director, Heather Davis-Fisch (heather.davisfisch@ufv.ca).
