Obituary: Jake Friesen

Jake Friesen, a prominent Abbotsford business person involved in the agricultural industry who received an honorary degree from UFV in 2007, passed away on Feb 7, 2019.

A memorial service will be held in Jake’s honor on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 11 am at South Abbotsford Church, 32424 Huntingdon Rd., Abbotsford, B.C.

May 11, 1932 – February 7, 2019
Jake Friesen, born on May 11, 1932 in Boissevain, Manitoba to John and Elizabeth Friesen, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 7, 2019.

In 1936, along with his family, Jake moved to Abbotsford, BC. He has been involved extensively in the farming and business industry. He was very active in community associations and his strong commitment to God was evident in his work on church boards.

Jake was predeceased by his wife Erna, his parents John and Elizabeth Friesen, brothers Peter and Henry and sister Anne. He will be missed by his loving children, Richard (Dorothy), Marlene (Douglas), Marvin (Anja), Randy (Jill) and Melinda, and his five grandchildren Alexander, Alyssa, Jolina, Jeremy and Samantha, and also by his remaining eight siblings Elizabeth, John, Martha, Kay, Arthur, Helen, Alvin, and Ruth.
