Turnitin — online training session — Aug 29

Join us for a Turnitin training workshop, facilitated by Ken Harmel.

This 60-minute workshop will provide you with an overview of Turnitin and get you access to UFV’s licence. Turnitin’s Originality Check feature can help students and instructors detect plagiarism by comparing student work to an extensive online database. Turnitin.com compares student papers to the current and archived web, other student work, millions of journal articles and e-books. As a learning tool, Turnitin helps students see and understand the importance of proper citation and referencing in their academic work.

It is UFV’s mandate that this tool be used as a learning tool for students. Faculty members can set up a Turnitin assignment where students can submit papers several times up to the assignment deadline. Once the deadline arrives, the assignment currently submitted is the final version. By allowing students to see the originality report prior to final submission, students can ensure their papers are not plagiarized. (Proper set-up of the assignment is required as paper titles, bibliographies, and common phrases can be highlighted as plagiarized text. Visit the Teaching and Learning Centre for assistance.)

Please join the session 10 minutes before the scheduled start time to test your microphone and connectivity. A camera is optional. If you don’t have a microphone, you can ask questions using the chat box.
