Marnie Wright joined the University of the Fraser Valley as Associate Vice-President of Human Resources on June 18, 2018.
Wright brings 20 years of experience in human resource management in the educational field to her role at UFV. Most recently she was the Associate Superintendent of Human Resources for the Abbotsford School District. Highlights of her work with the district include the development of teacher hiring competencies and adopting professional growth plan processes for faculty and staff. Previously, she worked for 14 years at BCIT in Human Resources.
“I am thrilled to be joining an organization that has a wonderful reputation in the community,” said Wright. “There is nothing better than that first week of school, when the campus is buzzing with enthusiasm. I look forward to serving the UFV team.”
Wright holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from the University of Saskatchewan and a Masters of Arts in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. She is a Certified Human Resources Professional and in 2016 was a finalist for the BC Human Resources Professional of the Year Award.
Wright has written several articles for PeopleTalk magazine, and contributed chapters to the Ultimate HR Manual, published by CCH Wolters Kluwer in the areas of human resources, leadership, and strategy. She has been an online faculty member at Thompson Rivers University for over 15 years.

Wright lives in Abbotsford with her partner John and their son and enjoys opera, travel, and kayaking.
