UFV launches online New Student Orientation

In an effort to make New Student Orientation more accessible, UFV has launched an online orientation program, delivered through Blackboard. Divided into three modules, the Online NSO delivers essential information in a convenient, engaging format. The first module, released in late May, covers course planning and online registration. The second module, released on September 3, introduces campus resources, academic expectations, and involvement opportunities.

The third module, to be released in late September, will provide an adapted version of UFV’s new sexualized violence prevention training as well as a section on holistic wellness.

New-to-UFV students may access the Online NSO through myUFV, just as they access any online courses. The program appears as “Online_NSO: 2017 New Student Orientation” under My Courses. The Online NSO will be open for a student’s first two semesters in order to serve as an ongoing resource. Currently, this program is only available to domestic students.

UFV faculty and staff are encouraged to promote the Online NSO to new-to-UFV students as another resource to facilitate a smooth transition to UFV. Employees are invited to test out the Online NSO for themselves. Simply email your request to Belinda Karsen, Student Transitions Coordinator, at Belinda.Karsen@ufv.ca and include your employee number.
