Academic Integrity, Appeals, and Access to Information

With the separation of the combined University Secretary/Registrar position into two distinct roles, the functions within the Office of Academic Integrity and Appeals will be distributed, as follows:

  • Academic Appeals, Plagiarism and Cheating: the Academic Appeals process will be supported through the Office of the Registrar; this includes information and management of the process, informal facilitated resolutions and formal appeals for students and faculty with regard to appeals of academic misconduct issues and appeals arising from conflicts over student evaluation, placement, transfer, and accommodation of disability, program admission, course challenge, academic policy, and assessment.
  • Academic Integrity: education and information for faculty and students will be provided through resources in the Teaching and Learning portfolio, with educational support provided by faculty, staff and senior peer tutors in the Academic Success Centre, and faculty information and support provided by faculty and staff in Teaching and Learning.
  • Access to Information and Protection of Privacy: requests for access to information will be managed through the Legal Counsel office. Education regarding privacy, access to information, records management and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) will be developed and delivered through the Legal Counsel office.
