Teaching and Learning welcomes Rita Atake, the new coordinator of the Academic Success Centre. Rita has 15 years of administrative as well as teaching experience. Her educational background includes an undergraduate degree in English and literature and a master’s degree in communications studies. She has worked collaboratively with faculty and other areas in post-secondary institutions to serve the varied needs of students, particularly non-traditional adult students. She was formerly the associate regional director managing the Quesnel Campus at the College of New Caledonia and then moved on to being the associate director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning. She is passionate about students and their learning journeys and brings a wealth of abilities and knowledge to the role. She is a doctoral candidate at the University of Calgary where her research centres on socio-culturally responsive teaching and learning practices that are responsive to indigenization, internationalization, and the diverse learning styles of students.
