Those who have been around UFV for a long time will be saddened to hear about the death of Kathie Nash’s (Petersen).
Kathie was one of the founders of FVC’s ECE program and she implemented the competency-based BC Provincial curriculum in conjunction with FVC’s Dona Coates, who co-developed it under a Ministry contract. Through her students and her own work she improved the quality of childcare and pre-school education in the Fraser Valley and many children benefited from her efforts. Kathie recently donated her considerable collection of children’s literature to the UFV library, after ascertaining that it would be of value. Book plates about Kathie will be created.
Her memorial service will be held on Sat, Nov 22, at 2 pm, at First Memorial, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria BC.
