Announcing the Faculty of Applied and Technical Studies

The former Faculty of Trades and Technology has changed its name to the Faculty of Applied and Technical Studies. We request that UFV faculty and staff please take a few moments to update your documents and communications to reflect our new Faculty name.

This new name reflects the diversity and evolving complex nature of our programs and the resulting highly rewarding career paths for our students. It is intended to describe the nature of trades programming in contemporary terms that more accurately convey their rigor, depth, and sophistication and how they integrate into the broader range of university programming.

The name Faculty of Applied and Technical Studies was chosen through consultation as part of our strategic planning process. The new name fits well with our goals and core business statement, as we move toward enhanced integration and alignment with our fellow faculties. The name was approved by Faculty Council, APPC, Senate, and the Board of Governors.

As part of this process, we will also establish the School of Trades within our Faculty.

The Trades and Technology Centre (TTC) building name remains unchanged, and we are retaining the ufv.ca/trades url for our Faculty.
