The Writing Centre would like to inform faculty about a new way we can support your students in their writing.
Our data on usage show that students who receive orientations to the Writing Centre in their courses do indeed tend to use it more often and more effectively. We therefore encourage faculty in all areas to request a brief (5-10 min) orientation for students in the first weeks of classes. We offer orientations to students in any course and at any level. Orientations can be tailored to your discipline and inform students about what the Writing Centre does, how we can help students become successful in their writing assignments, and how to make appointments at the centre and use its resources (e.g., handouts and discipline-specific writing guides). Orientations can be booked by calling local 4282 or by emailing writing.centre@ufv.ca.
