The UFV Cascades women’s basketball team enjoyed two substantial home wins last weekend, defeating the University of Calgary Dinos 60-36 Saturday after topping the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns 70-32 Friday inside the Envison Athletic Centre.
UFV’s record improves to 2-0 in the Pacific Division, while Calgary’s falls to 0-2 in the Prairie Division.
Nine different Cascades scored Saturday, giving coach Tuchscherer well-balanced scoring to go with the powerful start on defense. UFV out-rebounded Calgary 36-34.
“Not our prettiest game but we are starting to establish some defensive habits that will help us down the road. Good in stretches for sure,” said Tuchscherer. “Anytime you can defeat two prairie division schools in a weekend it’s a positive thing. Some things to build on as we prepare for Victoria next weekend.”
