The first Peace & Conflict Studies Speakers Series launches Nov 6 when Dr. Jimmy Juma presents Challenges to Peacebuilding in Africa:  A Case Study of the DR Congo.

Dr. Juma specializes in peace building, reconciliation, trauma healing, human rights, good governance, electoral conflict management and post-war reconstruction.
He served as a consultant with the African Union, and the European Union on Human Security and Reintegration of Ex-combatants and the United Nations Mission in South Sudan on good governance and peace building.

He has carried out numerous local, national and continental peace, development and humanitarian program evaluations in many parts of Africa.
Dr. Juma’s research focuses on transitional justice within the human security framework, taking into account issues of local ownership in the community reintegration of ex-combatants in the eastern DR Congo.
