Update – Thurs. Nov 18, 5 pm: All weekend classes, events and activities cancelled

UFV understands our students, faculty, and staff need time to focus on their safety and their recovery from this natural disaster.

With this in mind, all UFV classes, events, and activities scheduled for this weekend are CANCELLED.

Further updates will be provided on Friday at 7pm with a decision regarding next week’s classes updated on Sunday at 5pm.

Buildings open with very limited in-person services:

UFV campuses in Abbotsford and Chilliwack remain open with weekend hours of operation. For modified library hours click here.

UFV understands many students, faculty, and staff have been impacted by the ongoing emergency.

Student support:

If you are a student or know a student who needs support, please use the Priority Access to Student Supports (PASS) system. UFV has increased the number of people dedicated to PASS right now and activated a triage system to prioritize response to those with greatest need. PASS will also be monitored throughout the weekend. Please use this PASS system and avoid phone calls and emails. The team does not want anyone to fall through the cracks, so using the PASS system is the fastest and best way to get the information to us. Students have also been asked to self-refer through the system. Thank you all for your support of our students and for directing them to us for help.

Employee support:

UFV employees have access to Employee and Family Assistance Program. EFAP is a confidential service available to you at no cost, 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week. Toll-free: 1-800-663-1142

International (call collect): 604-689-1717. You may also sign up/log in to your Homeweb account for advice, counselling or treatment.

Special leave:

In addition, please remember staff and faculty members impacted by the flood can use special paid leave. UFV employees (Type A and B) have up to seven days of paid time off. For temporary staff (Contract Type C and D) who are employed on a contract basis, you may be eligible for three days of paid time off in the form of special leave days.

Disaster relief fund:

If you would like to help people impacted by the flood, UFV and community partners have jointly established the Abbotsford Disaster Relief Fund. This fund will provide grants to local agencies who will provide relief on the ground to those impacted by the flood.

UFV will get through this latest challenge together and we thank you for your continued flexibility, determination, and compassionate strength.

Thank you for all you do to continue to support students and the UFV community.

    • Hi Andy and welcome to Friday. Does this seem like a really long week? Or a really short one?
To answer your question. No. The decision regarding classes next week will come on Sunday at 5pm.

  1. Curious if the continued highway closure will factor into classes next week, our school district SD33 was given information that the highway between abby and chwk will remain closed for another week or possibly longer. I am personally hoping that is worst case senerio.
