REVISED March 23 Updates for students

Thank you for your continued patience as UFV adapts to the COVID-19 situation. UFV is working with provincial ministries and others to ensure we align with the direction set by the Provincial Health Officer. UFV’s goal is to take measures to keep you and our UFV community healthy while providing education through adapting and flexible methods. Our learning activities and campus operations will continue to change as we and others navigate this situation.

A reminder: UFV and the Fraser Health Authority encourage you to check factual health sources for information relating to COVID-19 symptoms, self-isolation, and testing. BC has a dedicated COVID-19 line at 1-888-COVID19 or text 1-888-268-4319, or 604-630-0300. Health Canada has resources on prevention and risk, symptoms, and what to do if you are diagnosed with COVID-19.

When the time comes, exams will not occur face-to-face, and your Faculty member will inform you of the format.

Libraries

The Abbotsford and Chilliwack libraries will be closed to ensure social distancing. Library staff are ready to assist you online, and our digital collections are always available.  Please check the Library’s blog for more information. Computer lab G is open within the library.

Trades

Learning for Trades programs will start up again on Monday in a remote learning format only. Due to the nature of learning a trade and the differing complexities of integrating practical and theory, students should connect with instructors to be advised of the plan for your trade. Welding is the only exception to recommencing Monday.  Welding will be paused until we can resume face-to-face learning.  Please contact your instructor to find out the details.  If you do not know how to contact you instructor, please call 604 847 5448.

SUS Shuttle suspended:

The Student Union Society Shuttle Bus will suspend operations after at completion their scheduled runs on Friday March 20.

  1. I’d like to add that the Academic Success Centre has tutors available for online appointments. Check UFV.ca/asc for schedule info and the link to book your tutoring session. And don’t forget about WriteAway for feedback on your written work; we’ve added a lot more tutors and tutoring hours to that online support service, too. You can always email us at asc@ufv.ca if you have questions or need help with booking.

  2. How are the trades classes going to continue? I havent gotten any emails from my prof saying what the plan is.

      • Hi M,
Please do not come to the Trades building on Monday. Also – your instructor will be in contact by email this afternoon. Later today, please check the usual email your instructor uses to reach you.
