This Sunday is Father’s Day — a day when we stop to reflect on what our fathers mean to us and to celebrate them and all they do. The Canadian Cancer Society works incredibly hard to improve and save the lives of all of those affected by cancer, but on Friday, June 19 they ask that we all wear plaid in an effort to bring awareness to the early detection and prevention of prostate cancer specifically.
1 in 9 Canadian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime so if we can do a simple thing like wearing plaid, posting a picture on social media with the hashtag #PlaidForDad, and perhaps even making a donation, you will be doing your part to support this important cause and helping so many dads lead longer and more fulfilling lives.
Life looks very different for us all right now and so whether you are working from home or from the office, I challenge you to wear plaid and show it off in your virtual meetings on Friday! I’d love to have as many UFV colleagues as possible send me pictures of themselves in their plaid! Let’s show our support to dads everywhere and to prostate cancer research.
