Dear Colleagues,
Last fall, UFV embarked on a community-wide conversation about our future – specifically, about reshaping and redefining our organizational values, mission, and vision.
Thank you for your input. It has been consistent, intelligent, thoughtful (and thought provoking), and heartfelt.
The steering committee and the working group have engaged university stakeholders: students, faculty, staff, alumni, industry and community partners, the UFV Board, and many others. Consultation and dialogue have occurred through town halls, online thoughtexchanges, videos, workshops, meetings, presentations, and informal discussions.
As a community we have created statements that clearly define who we are and set our direction.
Our vision:
UFV will be known as a gathering place for learners, leaders, and seekers. We will pursue diverse pathways of scholarship leading to community connection, reconciliation, and prosperity, locally and beyond.
Our mission:
Engaging learners, transforming lives, building community.
Our core values:
Integrity: we act honestly and ethically, upholding these values and ensuring our mission is delivered consistently.
Inclusivity: we welcome everyone, showing consideration and respect for all experiences and ideas.
Community: we cultivate strong relationships, acting as a hub where all kinds of communities – educational, scholarly, local, global, and cultural – connect and grow.
Excellence: we pursue our highest standard in everything we do, with determination and heart.
The UFV Board and Senate have approved our values, mission and vision and over the next few months we will be sharing them in a variety of ways, particularly as we start our new academic year in September.
Thank you again for your feedback and input. You were integral in shaping this new direction for the University.
Sincerely,
Dr. Joanne MacLean President and Vice-Chancellor
