Watch out for suspicious SharePoint invitations

UFV’s Cybersecurity team is seeing reports of phishing emails that are disguised as SharePoint document-sharing notifications. They come from no-reply@sharepoint.com, and invite you to open a shared document. These phishing emails are designed to steal your login credentials.

If you were not expecting the document, do not click the link, do not open it.

How to spot this scam

  • The email comes from no-reply@sharepoint.com
  • You do not recognize the document or the sender, or you weren’t expecting to receive it
  • The email warns that the link was shared from a SharePoint site outside of UFV

What should I do?
If you receive one of these messages, and you were not expecting to receive it, do not click the link. Forward the email to phishreport@ufv.ca so we can investigate it.
