We are excited to announce that Windows Hello PINs are now available for employees using their UFV devices. It’s a faster, more secure, and hassle-free way to sign in by using a PIN instead of your password
What is Windows Hello?
Windows Hello allows you to use a PIN, instead of your usual password, to securely sign you in to your Windows devices and other UFV resources.
Why switch to Windows Hello?
• Convenient: A quick PIN gets you into your device and accounts without the need to type complex passwords.
• More Secure: Your PIN is tied to your specific device. Unlike a password, it’s never transmitted online, making it far less vulnerable to hackers.
• Peace of Mind: The PIN can only be used on the device you set it up on. Even if someone gets access to your PIN, they would still need your physical device to use it.
How to get started: set up a PIN
To set up a Windows Hello PIN on your UFV device, follow these steps:
- Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
- Under Windows Hello, select PIN > Set up.
- PINs must be at least 6 characters long, but they can contain letters, symbols, and/or numbers.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup. Once the PIN is successfully created, you must wait about 20 minutes before you can sign in with the PIN on that device.
