Invoice scams on the rise

UFV’s Cybersecurity team has seen an increase in invoice scams. Fraudsters send invoices to you in hopes you will pay for goods and services that you never ordered. These invoices may look genuine, and could include legal jargon that pressure you into paying quickly. They may even send these requests through a known service like PayPal or Zoho.

What to do if you receive an unknown invoice or request for money

  1. Do not pay, do not reply, and do not call any phone numbers listed in the email (the phone number will likely route to a scammer, not a legitimate business)
  2. Report it to phishreport@ufv.ca – we’ll take a look at the invoice for you
