As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing digital systems security and safeguarding sensitive data, the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) is implementing a proactive measure in alignment with the recommendation from the British Columbian OCIO and requiring a password update for all employees across UFV.
To facilitate a smooth transition, IT Services will implement the password change process gradually over a two-week period beginning Monday, September 16th, 2024. Please wait until you receive the prompt to change your password.
*Note – If you have not been prompted to change your password after the two-week period, please restart your computer or log out and back into your M365 applications.
New Password Criteria:
The new passwords must adhere to the following guidelines:
• Contain a minimum of fourteen (14) characters.
• Use a “passphrase” – consists of a sequence of words or a sentence.
The passphrase should be easy for you to remember, but not easy to guess.
Ex. “HorseJumpFence” or “BananasHealthy”
Tasks to complete after the password update:
• Update your password to connect to Eduroam Wi-Fi on your UFV laptop. This will require you to forget the Eduroam network and reconnect. (Helpful info regarding Eduroam).
• Update passwords on any personal devices, including your mobile phone. (Helpful info regarding your mobile device).
• Re-enter your password into your various Microsoft 365 applications. Once all your applications have been updated with the new password, Single Sign On (SSO) will be active. (Helpful info regarding M365 applications).
