How to apply to UFV: Three simple steps

A guest post by UFV student Paulina Jiménez Violante

Applying to university is a big step, and honestly, it’s normal to feel a little lost at first. I remember not really knowing where to start either. But whether you’re finishing Grade 12 or thinking about going back to school, the process doesn’t have to be overwhelming.

UFV makes things as clear and as easy as possible. Here is a simple, three-step guide to help you get your application in and get moving towards your goals.

Step 1: Choose Your Program

The first step is figuring out what you’re interested in. UFV has a lot of options, so take a moment to see what resonates with you.

● Look around: Visit ufv.ca/programs/ to see what catches your eye.

● Keep it low-pressure: You don’t need to have your whole life figured out today. Many students start with general classes and pick a specific major later.

● Reach out: If you’re stuck between two programs, the Future Students team is happy to chat and help you decide. Fill out their form to get more information.

Step 2: Apply Online

Once you have an idea of what you want to study, the next step is applying online.

● Create your account: Go to EducationPlannerBC and set up your account.

● Fill out your application: Enter your information and choose your program.

● Take your time: You can save your progress and come back to it later if needed.

● Fee payment: You can pay online with a credit card, or use debit or a cheque at the Office of the Registrar. If you need a bigger breakdown on UFV’s application process, visit the How to Apply page.

Step 3: Send Your Documents

After submitting your application, there are just a few more steps to complete the process.

● Send your transcripts: These include your high school grades or any from previous college courses.

● Check your email: You’ll receive your UFV ID number from a UFV email, which you’ll use to log into your portal.

● Track your application: Use your ID to see updates and next steps.

● Wait for the next steps: UFV will review everything and let you know what to do next.

Quick Tips to Make It Easier

Apply early so you can avoid extra stress.

● Have your PEN ready: Your Personal Education Number (from your high school transcripts) is the main thing you’ll need.

● Don’t be afraid to ask: If you get stuck on a question, just email futurestudents@ufv.ca. They’re always glad to help!

● Just take the first step, that’s the hardest part.

You’ve Got This!

Applying might feel like a big step, but once you break it down, it’s actually really manageable. You don’t need to have everything figured out right now, you just need to get started.

Take it one step at a time, and soon enough, you’ll be looking back at this as the moment you began. Ready to get started? Visit ufv.ca/go
