Devised Theatre Showcase up next for UFV Theatre
The University of the Fraser Valley is wrapping up the 2018/19 Season of Theatre with the Devised Theatre Showcase. The showcase is the final project presented by UFV Theatre’s fourth-year directing class. It is a chance for the theatre students to present original, collaboratively created theatre projects, and to apply everything they have learned in the course.
Devising project Life Imitates Art is about people dealing with traumatic past experience. Lilly, an art lover, has been sexually assaulted by her ex-boyfriend, and Erin, a painter, suffers from mental illness. Lilly and Erin get to know each other online and finally meet in person. Despite of their strong bond, the new roommate friends break up because they can’t bare the traumas that haunt them in every second of their life. This project examines the traumatic experiences that influence the quality of our present and future relationships.
The Devising Showcase 2019 is made by students of the THEA 452 devising class. Students have created and devised ALL aspects of the show including the script, design, and performance.
