A wide spectrum of health promotion topics will be addressed during Friday’s annual health fair at Abbotsford’s Sevenoaks Shopping Centre.
Hosted by fourth-year University of the Fraser Valley nursing students, the Oct. 18 event offers something for people of all ages, from infants to adults, says organizer and UFV nursing instructor Kate McCulloch.
The all-day event features friendly, educated students operating information booths that include: nutrition for teens, benefits of breast feeding, oral health for caregivers of young children, sun safety for young adults, hypertension for middle-aged adults, benefits of immunizations, child obesity prevention for parents, and binge drinking in young adults.
“People of all ages are encouraged to drop by the health fair and experience the health information the nursing students will be sharing,” says McCulloch.
“The students are knowledgeable in communicating evidence-informed information in an interesting and meaningful manner. Some displays will include games and prizes. Come and visit us to learn something new and support the students.”
A Sevenoaks staple for more than a decade, UFV’s nursing health fair runs Friday, Oct. 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. near Dollar Giant.
