Join award-winning filmmakers from Transparent Film for the Fraser Valley premiere of their feature documentary Emergence: Women in the Storm on Thursday, March 26 from 10:30am-12:50 pm in Abby B101. The film celebrates women’s varied approaches to mitigating harm from climate change in BC and the Yukon — including Dr. Michelle Superle’s Flood Stories Project. Special guest poet Meghan Fandrich, author of Burning Sage: Poems from the Lytton Fire will also be present to discuss the role of her poems in the film. A Q&A session with the filmmakers, Fandrich, Dr. Superle, and other participants follows the screening. This event is free and open to all members of the UFV community, along with their friends/family. Emergence is a Knowledge Original: don’t miss your chance to experience this “highly anticipated” (The Georgia Straight) and “evocative” (The Narwhal) documentary with the filmmakers themselves before it airs on Knowledge Network in April. *Note that this event at UFV will be followed by a similar event in the evening at the Reach Gallery from 5-8 pm.
