Growing together: What’s next for UFV Student Wellness

Over the past year, UFV Student Wellness has continued to grow and evolve, introducing new initiatives and strengthening peer support across our campuses. From campus-wide events like Wellness Week and Student Wellness Days to our peer-led connection groups and drop-in hours, we’re focused on fostering a culture of care where all students feel seen, supported, and empowered.

This fall, we’re excited to expand the Prospera Peer Pathways: Wellness Peer Support Program. This initiative empowers students to grow as leaders and contribute meaningfully to campus life.
Thanks to the generous support of the Prospera Foundation, nearly a dozen trained Wellness Peers will be available to offer informal peer support, develop wellness programming, and help foster an inclusive, student-centered environment on the Abbotsford and Chilliwack campuses.

Students can access support and education through three distinct peer pathways, each designed to meet different needs and foster connection, well-being, and student success.

Wellness peers
Wellness peers offer informal, non-judgmental support, help students navigate campus resources, and lead events and connection groups that promote well-being, belonging, and care in student life. Chat with a peer in Abbotsford S1111 or CEP A1302.

 Student support peers
In partnership with the Student Support Centre, these peers offer one-on-one mentoring to help students strengthen skills, manage time effectively, communicate with instructors, and stay on track with their goals.

Education assistants
Part of UFV’s In This Together program, education assistants support students by raising awareness about consent and healthy relationships, and by connecting peers to resources related to sexualized violence prevention and support.

All peer roles are paid and include mentorship, leadership development, and opportunities to support student wellness, learning, and connection.

We couldn’t do this work without the continued support of the Prospera Foundation. Their generosity has helped us grow our peer programs and offer wellness resources to more students at UFV. We’re grateful for their investment in student well-being and community care.

We’re just getting started. With new peer roles, stronger partnerships, and student-centered programming, we’re building a foundation for wellness at UFV where every student can thrive together.
