‘Become an Indigenizer’ course – express your interest

Between February and May 2025, Xwexwílmexwawt is offering a 13-week ‘Become An Indigenizer’ course, open to staff and faculty at UFV.

Taught by UFV Professor Emeritus Eric Davis and Indigenous Student Centre Director Betty Peters, this 13-week course is a unique opportunity for UFV staff and faculty to deepen their understanding of Indigenization, decolonization and reconciliation, and take learnings and skills into their roles at UFV. Elders, knowledge holders and community members will provide teachings and wisdom, and the learnings from this course will contribute to UFV’s commitment to Indigenize and decolonize and work towards reconciliation for all.

Classes run on the Abbotsford campus on Fridays, with three sessions outside on the land and the water.

Staff and faculty are invited to email Vanessa Charlie by Monday Dec 2 to express their interest in joining the course. Where applications are successful, staff and faculty are recommended to seek approval from their home departments and/or supervisors to reserve time to take the 13-week course. Please note that admission to the course is based on a commitment to attend all 13 weeks.
