Visiting Scholar Talk: “Mother of the Equal Rights Amendment: How Martha Griffiths Made History” — Nov 14

A Visiting Scholar Talk presented by UFV’s History department takes place on Thursday, Nov 14, from 11 am to noon at UFV Abbotsford (room A225).

In 1970, Martha W. Griffiths allied with feminists inside and outside Congress, moving the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to the top of the US political agenda as away to remove sex discrimination in law. She then maneuvered it through Congress, achieving what had not been done in the half-century since the ERA was first proposed.

In this talk, Dr. Jennifer Frost will explain how Griffiths and her allies made history and why it matters today.
