Sent on behalf of Dr. Alisa Webb, Vice President Students
Dear Colleagues,
I’m pleased to announce that, following a comprehensive search, Dr. Kyle Baillie will be UFV’s first Associate Vice President, Students. Kyle will step into this role on June 15, 2024.
As many of you know, Kyle is a seasoned student affairs professional with a career spanning over 20 years. He possesses a unique combination of experience, innovation, education, and passion for student success that has prepared him well for the AVP role.
After beginning his student affairs career in positions at Centenary University and Douglas College, Kyle joined UFV in 2013 in the newly created role of Director, Student Life & Development. In 2020, Kyle was promoted to Executive Director, Student Affairs. He holds an MA in Leadership and Public Administration and a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. In addition to his work as an administrator, Kyle is also sessional faculty at UFV.
Throughout his time at UFV, Kyle has proven himself to be a collaborative, purposeful, community-minded, and strategic leader. His authentic approach, experience, and skills have seen him lead and contribute to a range of projects and initiatives related to student experience and success, particularly in the areas of policy development, student experience, student orientation and transition, student conduct, accessibility services, financial aid and awards, and campus living. Kyle’s work has also led to several studies on the student experience at UFV regarding food insecurity, sexual violence, and the transition experience of students with disabilities. Beyond UFV, diverse groups regularly seek out Kyle’s expertise and experience as it relates to students, as well as to the work of student affairs and its impact on the people who do the work.
As the Associate Vice President, Students, Kyle will provide strategic and visionary leadership within the VPS Students Division and beyond, with a particular focus on quality assurance, assessment, and research.
My thanks to those who contributed their time and perspective to this process, including SAC members Robbyn Bennett, Dr. Vlada Dvoracek, Tiina Higgins, and Liana Thompson.
Please join me in congratulating Kyle on his new role!
Sincerely,
Dr. Alisa Webb
Vice President, Students
