This year, we are inviting you to participate in UFV’s Giving Tuesday campaign in support of the UFV-Student Union Society Food Bank. In the spirit of generosity and giving, Giving Tuesday has become a global movement that empowers people to make a positive impact on their communities. On Nov 28, UFV is joining with faculty, staff, supporters, alumni, and friends to address a critical issue affecting many university students: food insecurity.
It is no secret that students, their families, and members of the community are facing the challenges of food insecurity. The rising costs of living expenses have had a major impact on their livelihoods and the UFV-SUS Food Bank has seen an estimated 500 per cent surge in food hamper requests since the beginning of the academic year. Your generosity this Giving Tuesday will provide much-needed support to those facing this challenge, ensuring they can focus on their studies without the burden of hunger.
Ways to Get Involved:
1. Donate on Giving Tuesday: Mark your calendars and make a one-time donation to the UFV-SUS Food Bank on Nov. 28. All donations (up to $10,000) to the food bank will be matched .
2. Sign up for payroll deductions: Provide a steady source of support for the UFV-SUS Food Bank. Even a small, consistent donation can accumulate to make a significant impact over time.
3. Build a hamper: Come together as a department to build a food hamper in support of the UFV-SUS Food Bank. By building food hampers filled with essential items, you can provide immediate support to those facing food insecurity.
The UFV Advancement team will be delivering “Build a Hamper” packages this week.
