Please join us in lending support and building solidarity for anti-casteism at UFV by attending an event in collaboration with the UFV Library on September 19 in the UFV Library Rotunda at 11am. On this day, we will install a painting of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar (the architect of the Indian constitution and a visionary leader and social reformer), have anti-caste speakers who will guide us in a call to action, and we will have a table of resources and learning.
Anti-casteism work has recently received a lot of attention and come to the forefront in North America, both in academic settings and in governments. Our goal is to establish a partnership network of individuals, departments, institutes and centres, students, faculty, and staff in solidary to develop anti-casteism strategies at UFV over the next five years with partners engaged in this work daily. An active Caste Matters group made of UFV community and beyond has been learning and unlearning for the last two years. You are welcome to join the group that meets on online about six times a year.
This event will be held on the Abbotsford campus in Building G (Peter Jones Learning Commons) in the Rotunda area (H102) outside of the UFV Library.
