The UFV Alumni Association hosted and sponsored the 9th annual Alumni Evening of Theatre recently, featuring Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. UFV president Mark Evered brought greetings from the university to over 180 alumni and guests. This annual alumni appreciation event is a complimentary evening of wine, hors d’oeuvres, raffle prizes and theatre, which also features the launch of the Alumni commemorative wine, brought exclusively to UFV alumni by the UFV Alumni Association.
This year we are pleased to be offering two additional select wines produced by a local winery, Chaberton Estate, from Langley, BC.
“Our objective with this commemorative wine series is to promote awareness of the Alumni Association while building on the financial support to continue to provide student scholarships as well as programs and services to future alumni,” said Nancy Armitage, Manager of Alumni Engagement. “Most importantly, this cultivated partnership also allows us to showcase the talents of UFV alumni artists.”
Alumni Association chair Justin P. Goodrich announced the winner of this year’s commemorative wine artist competition, Fiona Moes Pel, who earned Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2010. Her artwork is featured on the labels of this year’s wine.
Fiona was born and raised in greater Vancouver, BC where she developed a deep love for trees, mountains and people. Her multimedia approach to creating results in work with both physical and conceptual depth.
The commemorative wine launch is a highly anticipated annual tradition. This year, in commemoration of UFV’s 40th anniversary, a special 2011 Reserve Syrah will be available.
The commemorative wine is purchased as graduation gifts, memorabilia, prizes, and for the enjoyment by UFV faculty, staff, students and alumni, and at community gatherings. The wine can now be purchased through the Alumni Engagement office.
