If the past few years have shown us anything, it’s that community is crucial.
The pandemic, the heat dome, and the flood — throughout these challenges, the United Way, and the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) came together to ensure we were all here for each other, assisting with crisis response and supporting our communities.
2022 marks 39 years of partnership between the United Way and UFV. Over this time, UFV employees have funded vital needs across the community and across our campuses. In 2016, you helped support families like the Gemmells, who in earlier years had turned to the community and local agencies for family support and service navigation. One of those Gemmell children, Avery, is a recent UFV alumnus, who is now making a difference in the Fraser Valley community. In 2020, you directly impacted students through the UFV Student Emergency Response Fund, which provided essential services to students who were struggling as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Your impact on our local communities is significant.
JOIN US! Our Annual Employee Giving Breakfast is back in person at our Abbotsford and Chilliwack campuses. Bring your colleagues, enjoy a complimentary hot breakfast, and help us kick off the United Way and UFV Annual Employee Giving campaign, which runs November 1–29. This year, we are focusing on raising funds for United Way programs supporting youth, seniors, and community, and for UFV’s Emerging Priorities Fund. All employees who attend the breakfast will be entered into a door prize draw for a pair of Abbotsford Canucks tickets and dinner out!
Gather your colleagues and meet us for breakfast on either or both dates:
Tuesday, Nov 1
8–9:30 am
Abbotsford — Building B, Outside Cafeteria
Wed, Nov 2
7:30–9 am
Chilliwack — Building A, Atrium
Did you know one third of UFV employees give back? Our employees are known for being difference-makers– both inside and outside the classroom. The United Way and UFV Annual Employee Giving campaign is an opportunity to give back to the causes you care about, through a one-time donation, payroll deduction, or monthly giving.
Your gift changes lives. Just $5 per pay period* covers the cost of one textbook for a former youth-in-care student attending post-secondary education in BC.
Donate today to be entered into a weekly prize draw. All donations made to UFV until Nov 29 (Giving Tuesday) will be matched, doubling your impact! For more information contact Devon Bailey, Senior Officer, Annual Giving at devon.bailey@ufv.ca.
*based on 24 pay periods. Per-pay values have been rounded for simplicity.
