Need a break? Come join us at the Consent Café on November 21 2022 from 6:30 to 8 pm for a relaxing and creative evening with friends. The Consent Café will feature free warm drinks, baked goods and blackout poetry.
What is blackout poetry?
Blackout poetry has been popularized in recent years by a struggling American writer, Austin Kleon, who decided to create new pieces of work out of newspaper. This form of art encourages people to create poems by selecting words from ‘ordinary’ text, such as newspapers, books, and articles. Like any other creative project, blackout poetry allows you to discover more about yourself.
At our Consent Café you will get a chance to try blackout poetry keeping consent, sex, and body positivity in mind. For those who wish to, you will also be given the opportunity to share your piece, slam-poetry style. If you’ve never tried it before this event is a great place to start! No experience is required and all of the supplies will be provided. We also have prizes to give away to lucky guests. Can’t wait to see all of you there!
