New Printers — A quick guide

You may have seen new printers arriving in your department. These are new Ricoh Multi-Function Devices (MFDs) and replace older printer and copier technology at UFV.

Key conveniences of these devices:

  • Secure printing – your printed documents can be held until you pick them up from any printer. This ensures the privacy of your material, helps eliminate accidental print jobs, and lets you pick up your documents from any printer on campus.
  • Tap to print – use your UFV employee ID card to log into a machine. This eliminates keying in your employee ID and billing account every time.

Once the MFDs are installed you must restart your computer to use.

Thank you for your patience and help facilitating the smooth replacement of the MFD fleet. More training resources are linked at the bottom of this page.

How do I print?

Direct Print:

This is similar to the way you print now and documents print immediately on the selected machine. If your new printer has been installed, then:

  1. Open your document, click on File, then on Print
  2. In the printer drop down, look for a printer name that gives your location’s building and room number followed by the Ricoh number for e.g. AB249-RicohC3500
  3. Once you have selected the printer and it’s connected, print as you normally would
  4. A “Print Job Notification” pop-up will prompt you to confirm your billing account, if correct account then click Print
  5. Go to the MFD and collect your printed material

Secure Print:

Your printed material will be held until you pick it up. If your new printer has been installed:

  1. Open your document, click on File, then on Print
  2. From the drop-down list of printers select “Secure print on Stanley” and wait until the printer connects
  3. Click on Print
  4. A “Print Job Notification” pop-up will prompt you to confirm your billing account, if correct click Print.
  5. Take your UFV ID card and go to the new printer
  6. Log onto the device using these instructions – please note you have to key in your network sign-on and associate your campus card the first time you use it.
  7. Once logged in select “Print All” or press “Print Release” on the touch screen
