Due to the increased demand for internal invigilation services and its limited resources, Assessment Services will be implementing some changes to its procedures as of January 2, 2014. A summary of these changes — which will help ensure a secure and efficient assessment centre — follows.
Information for Students
~ Students must submit the online exam booking form at least four business days before an exam is to be written. This means, for example, a student who wishes to write an exam on a Monday must submit the form by the Tuesday of the previous week. To write an exam on a Friday, the form must be submitted by the Monday of that same week.
Information for Faculty
Examination materials to be sent two days prior to test date
~ Faculty members must ensure all examination materials are submitted to the Assessment Services Centre (Centre) at least two business days prior to the exam date. Therefore, when an exam is scheduled on a Monday, all materials must be submitted by the Thursday of the previous week; materials for a Friday exam must be submitted by the Wednesday of the same week.
Assessment Services does not have the time nor the resources to print exams, provide exam booklets, and Scantron sheets. As a result, faculty must provide the following materials to the Centre at least two days before the exam for each student writing the exam:
- a completed and printed cover sheet with instructions for Centre staff
- a printed copy of the exam
- an exam booklet
- a Scantron sheet, if applicable.
In the event that faculty find it necessary to send exams to the centre via email for printing, they must do so least two days in advance. Departments will be invoiced for the cost of printing, test booklets, and Scantron sheets.
Online examinations
~ To ensure the security of online exams and allow centre staff to verify that students have access to the correct online examination, faculty will be required to send a password to the centre at least two days before the test date.
Thank you for taking note of these upcoming changes. Additional details will be provided in the New Year.
