The Supported Learning Groups (SLG) program has welcomed its new cohort of SLG leaders.
After completing their initial training in facilitation, collaborative learning, and learning strategies, these students are ready to begin their journey as peer supporters.
As SLG leaders, they will create welcoming and engaging learning spaces where students can learn with and from one another, develop effective study strategies, and become more confident and independent learners. We look forward to seeing the ideas, energy, and perspectives they bring to their sessions and to the difference they will make in the learning experiences of their peers.
Reflecting on her new role at UFV, Anna, an SLG leader, shared that:
“What I’m most excited for as a new leader is getting to know other students and helping them feel at ease with their course load. I was incredibly nervous in my first year, so helping people who are in that position now will be fulfilling.”
Fellow SLG leader Caleb also shared a few works of excitement:
“I am very grateful and excited to be taking on the role of PHYS 111 SLG leader this fall! I’ve received some excellent training over the past weeks and am looking forward to applying these skills to enhance this education of my fellow physics students.”
