What do I need to know?
Significant power and IT outages are scheduled for this Saturday, August 19.
Where and when?
Power outage:
Electricity will be shut down to Abbotsford Buildings G and H (Lá:lem te Baker) between 8 am and 12 noon Sat, Aug 19.
IT outage:
IT services will be suspended on all campuses – completely between 6–9 pm Sat, Aug 19, then intermittently from 9 pm–12 midnight.
Services Impacted:
Power outage:
Remote desktop access, onsite VoIP phones, and Wi-Fi will not be available in Buildings G and H.
IT outage:
-Internet service for all campuses
-Telephone service (excluding red emergency phones)
-Remote desktop connections
-All online services, including Banner, FAST, myUFV, and the UFV website
Will student/employee email & myClass services be available?
Yes, provided a campus internet connection isn’t required to access during scheduled outages.
Are the power and IT outages related?
No.
BC Hydro is conducting equipment maintenance.
ITS is performing critical network upgrades to improve network security and reliability.
What about Security?
UFV Safety and Security will continue to be available 24 hours a day at 1-855-239-7654.
