Volunteers needed — Thinking Playground summer camps

Volunteer Opportunity:
Thinking Playground Summer Camps
Interested in helping children improve their reasoning skills? Volunteer with Thinking Playground Summer Camps!

Volunteers assist camp counselors in leading activities, games, and supervising campers. The camps use the UNESCO-endorsed, Philosophy for Children (P4C) method of teaching through dialogue. All camps include community of inquiry sessions during which children engage in critical, creative, caring, and collaborative thinking. Camp games, arts, and crafts are all designed to help promote reasoning skills and FUN! Volunteers will learn about the philosophical background and goals of the community of inquiry during the pre-camp workshop and then put the methods into practice during the camps. Volunteers will be working with philosophy professors, graduate students, and experienced counsellors as well as with the campers.

The 2022 camps are July 4-8 and July 11-15 (from 8:30-4:30).
Camps are for children ages 6-13 and take place on the UFV Abbotsford campus.
All volunteers must attend full-day, pre-camp workshops on July 2-3.
All volunteers must complete a criminal record check.
