Upcoming student email change and outage — April 30-May 2

As part of the M365 for Students project, student email will be out of service from noon on April 30 until noon May 2, to accommodate the provisioning of student Microsoft accounts.

What do I need to do?
Please be aware of this outage and plan accordingly. Students will not receive emails during this time. Any email sent during this time will be held by the system and delivered once accounts are set up.

Why is this happening?
Following the launch of MS Teams and Exchange Online for faculty and staff last year, Microsoft accounts, including Exchange Online email and Microsoft’s Online Productivity Suite, will be made available to students this spring. Exchange Online email will be replacing Zimbra as the student email platform.

Through making these services available, the M365 for Students project aims to provide a more robust set of tools to students, enhancing remote learning experiences and creating more collaborative opportunities.

Services Impacted:
• Student email (Zimbra) will stop receiving email at noon on April 30. Students will begin to receive emails again by noon on May 2, 2021.
