Gallery of Artifacts from Vivid COVID Dreams

UFV SoCA Assistant Professor Candace Couse is seeking student collaborators to contribute to a photo series called “Gallery of Artifacts from Vivid COVID Dreams,” involving multiple students from UFV and Brock University. Through the project, subjects are invited to create self-portraits in their beds, holding a single object that is a representation of an element of a vivid COVID dream. This is a great opportunity for students to add to their experience and CVs.

Timeline:

Contributors’ content will be uploaded between September 2020 and April 2021. Deadline for submissions, Sept. 1, 2020.

About the project:

This project will be published online with the Research Centre in Interdisciplinary Arts and Creative Culture in Ontario called “Interiors” (working title).

Submission Guidelines:

The photograph(s) should meet the following requirements

1. The photo is a self-portrait
2. You photographed yourself in or on your bed
3. You are clearly holding or touching a single object that is a representation of an element of a dream you recall having during the quarantine.
4. The image was shot (and scanned, if applicable) in the highest resolution you have access to at home

Beyond the requirements listed above, lighting, angles, stylistic choices, editing, photography equipment and format are all in the domain of you, the artist. You can shoot your portrait with your phone, on film, or whatever you have access to. As long as you can scan and upload it, analogue methods are perfectly acceptable.

When emailing your submission, include the following information.
First and last name:
The name of the object you are holding (“ball,” “red tennis shoe,” “photo of my grandfather,” etc.):
Medium (“digital photograph,” “Polaroid,” etc.):
