UFV Bookstore on track for summer textbooks

Message from Jeff Thiessen, UFV Bookstore Manager & Course Materials Buyer:

I would first like to applaud all your efforts for migrating to an online platform for learning.  That is a huge task and accomplishment.  The Bookstore has been closed to the public since the end of March in an effort to help “flatten the curve” and reduce contact points. We have remained open online for orders and have offered free shipping in the interim.

  • We have continued to process adoptions for the summer semester and have received adoptions for close to 80% of classes so far, and have many titles already in stock and more are on order with the hope of having a robust inventory offering for summer.
  • We have tried to increase our listing of digital resources for ease of distribution to the students. Our publisher partners are also trying to increase their offering of digital material.
  • We continue to place orders and receive shipments into inventory. Most vendors are responding positively to orders that are being placed. Two vendors: Broadview Press and Oxford University Press have indicated they are closed to comply with Ontario’s Essential Businesses only mandate.  They are tentatively set to reopen this week. Our expectation is that the supply chain should be functioning close to normal, but there may be delays.
  • For Coursepack inquiries please continue to e-mail coursepacks@ufv.ca. Print Services is open for production and will continue to partner with the Bookstore to deliver this service.
  • Students will be able to order material for the summer online.  We are looking at providing a suitable pick-up option that is consistent with public health requirements.  We will also be offering free shipping for the summer semester.

We look forward to continuing to be your partner in delivering course material in support of your classes.
