Abbotsford is home to over 5,000 new immigrants. Unfortunately, there are many challenges for these individuals such as learning language, community adaptation, and developing healthy family dynamics.
We are a group of community development students from UFV who desire to support these families by hosting a Multicultural Family Fun Night on November 22, 2019 at Central heights Church 1661 McCallum Rd. This event will target the systemic issue of multicultural families living in isolation and promoting healthy family interaction. We will do this by facilitating a welcoming and engaging evening where families can enjoy each other’s company away from the daily challenges of living in a new country. Families will enjoy complimentary food, meet new people in their community, and get connected to beneficial resources while playing fun family-focused activities and games.
