Social Construction of Difference event — March 12

The social construction of difference involves a society that targets individuals based on race, sex, mental health or anything that can be discriminated against. Treating people like outcasts, because of conditions that cannot be changed without the society accepting and understanding those individuals. Based on the UN day of Social Justice (February 20). The current events hopes to bring an understanding of issues related to discrimination, prejudice and conflict in hopes that we can work together to understand and resolve the issues we face.

The event will be Tues, March 12 from 2:30-5:30 pm and features three speakers: Alison Gutrath and Megan Capp from Abbotsford Community Services, as well as Allen Doerksen, priest at two Anglican Churches in the lower mainland. There will be time period after each of the speakers speak to discuss and ask questions.

Event is open to the public.

Special Thanks to Karen Thind (Ethno-Cultural Commissioner for SUS) for her help in organizing speakers.
