Margo Kane, who received an honorary degree from UFV in 2015, who was one of 99 new appointees to the Order of Canada in June 2017. Kane is fouunder and artistic director of Full Circle: First Nations Performance,
Margo’s citation recognizes “her contributions to the advancement of Indigenous theatre in Canada as a performer, storyteller, teacher and leader”.
The Order of Canada, one of Canada’s highest civilian honours, was established in 1967, during Canada’s centennial year, to recognize outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation. More than 6,500 people from all sectors of society have been invested into the order.
