ReconciliACTION — June 19

On June 19, 2018, Stó:lō, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people are gathering at the Aboriginal Gathering Place (UFV CEP campus) to engage in a dialogue aimed at highlighting our shared history and helping dismantle the walls of isolation that have defined our relationships in the past. The University of the Fraser Valley will be participating in this important community-building event.

Organized in partnership by Stó:lō Tribal Council and the University of the Fraser Valley, this day will consist of sessions on Truth Telling, Imagining a Future Together, and Taking Action on Reconciliation. The goal is to begin to see our way forward in harmony, to build relationships and healthy communities that we envision in our shared future. Stó:lō Elder, Siyamiateliyot, translated reconciliation into Halq’emeylem: xwla yetotelo:met qas ye slilekwel meaning: “towards understanding and harmony.”
