Who Owns History? — Forum Sept 26

The UFV History department is hosting a public forum on historical monuments, the use of history and who gets to decide.

In Charlottesville, Virginia, removal of a statue of Confederate general Robert E. Lee brought out protesters, some with links to white¬†supremacist¬†organizations. In Canada, members of the Ontario union of elementary school teachers advocated dropping John A. Macdonald’s name from public buildings because of his aboriginal policy.
