Who Owns History? — Forum Sept 26

The UFV History department is hosting a public forum on historical monuments, the use of history and who gets to decide.

In Charlottesville, Virginia, removal of a statue of Confederate general Robert E. Lee brought out protesters, some with links to white supremacist organizations. In Canada, members of the Ontario union of elementary school teachers advocated dropping John A. Macdonald’s name from public buildings because of his aboriginal policy.
